It’s the Quarter Final, 2nd legs tonight – and there are two big games to
cash-in on…
Bayern Munich play Barcelona and Chelsea play Liverpool. After heavy
defeats in the 1st legs last week, Bayern Munich and Liverpool need goals
– and lots of them – and that could have a big impact on the stats
tonight.
You can view the full Head-2-Head figures for both games at our website.
And the Scoreboard will go live with all the Scorers, Corners, Goals and
Booking Points stats updating every minute from kick off at 7.45pm:

- 4 of Barcelona’s last 5 Champions League games have also had 4 or
more goals
As those recent results show, the majority of games have not only cleared
Over 2.5 Goals – they’ve also paid out on Over 3.5 Goals bets, too.
Both teams also have ‘high goals’ trends in their domestic leagues - 7 of
Bayern’s last 10 Bundesliga games have gone Over 2.5 Goals. And 6 of
Barcelona’s last 10 La Liga games have also been Over 2.5 Goals.
In fact, there have been 4 or more goals scored in 7 of Bayern Munich’s
last 10 games in all competitions. That’s a remarkable ‘high goals’
record.
Bayern will need to score at least 4 goals tonight to have a chance of
overcoming their 1st leg deficit. And shutting Barcelona out won’t be
easy – they have scored at least once in their last 17 games in all
competitions.
Available bets…
There’s a whole range of Goals bets available tonight. Over 2.5 Goals is
odds-on at 8/13 (1.62) with Coral and Victor Chandler. And at bigger
odds, you can look to cash-in on a total of 4 or more goals…
Over 3.5 Goals is 8/5 (2.60) with Victor Chandler and Bet365, or 6/4
(2.50) with Paddy Power and Betfred.

RECOMMENDED BET:
- 'Goal Line – Over 3’ @ 11/10 (2.10) with Bet365
This ‘Goal Line’ bet pays out if there are 4 or more goals in the game. And if there are exactly 3 goals, you get your money back.
Also available at 1.90 in Victor Chandler’s ‘Overs / Unders’ market.

FIRST GOAL TIME
We cashed-in on an ‘early goal’ in the 1st leg of this tie, and the stats
suggest that market is worth following again this evening…
The First Goal has been scored Before 27th Minute in 75% of Bayern
Munich’s home games so far. And in 75% of Barcelona’s away games, too.
The Team Stats pages on our website show that 77% of the First Goals in
all Bayern Munich’s Champions League games – and 66% in Barcelona’s games
- have come in the first 30 mins of the game this season.
Best option:
- ‘Time Of First Goal – 27th Min Or Before’ @ Evens (2.00) with
Boylesports

CARDS AND BOOKING POINTS
‘Over 35.5 Booking Points’ looks the best option here. There were 40
points in the 1st leg last week (20-20), and 75% of Barcelona’s away
games have paid out on that bet so far (50% Bayern home).
Bayern Munich - Home
Total Booking Points average = 40.00 per game
Barcelona - Away
Total Booking Points average = 51.25 per game
Plus, the bets available tonight look good value. The bookies are
offering 11/10 (2.10) and bigger for there to be 35 or more Booking
Points. In recent Champions League games the line has been higher, at 45
points.
Best option:
- ‘Total Cards – 35 Or More’ @ 6/5 (2.20) with Betfred
Also available: ‘Over 30 Points’ @ 11/10 (2.10) with Blue Square or ‘Over
3.5 Cards’ @ 11/10 with Bet365.

And now for the live ITV 1 game at Stamford Bridge…
Chelsea v Liverpool
7.45pm, live on ITV 1
Ref: Luis Medina Cantalejo
1st leg score: 1-3 Chelsea
To Qualify: Chelsea 1/16 Liverpool 14/1
Match odds:
Chelsea Draw Liverpool
11/8 9/4 9/4
Chelsea scored 3 away goals in the 1st leg, so Liverpool will need to
score at least 3 goals to have any chance of going through to the Semi
Finals…
MATCH RESULT
Chelsea are in a very strong position. They can afford to draw tonight,
or lose (depending on the exact score) – and they will still go through
to the Semi Finals. They don’t need to win. But Liverpool do…
With that in mind, Liverpool are the team to follow in the Match Result
markets - and the Draw No Bet market looks a good option. That bet pays out if Liverpool win the game, and gives you your money back if it’s a draw.
Best option:
- Liverpool ‘Draw No Bet’ @ 5/4 (2.25) with Stan James
Check here for the best odds on this market:
http://odds.sportsbettingxtra.co.uk/football/champions-league/
CORNERS
Considering Liverpool are the team that NEED to attack tonight, backing
them with a ‘plus’ Corner Handicap makes sense…
Liverpool ‘+1 Corner Handicap’ pays out as long as Chelsea don’t win the
most corners in the game. This isn’t backed up by the season-long stats,
but this game is a bit of a one-off: Liverpool are 3-1 down on aggregate
and there’s every chance they will be in search of goals right up until
the last minute of the game.
Best option:
- Liverpool ‘+1 Corner Handicap’ @ Evens (2.00) with Stan James
Check here for the best Corner Handicap odds:
http://odds.sportsbettingxtra.co.uk/football/champions-league/
GOALS
So far, 50% of Chelsea’s home games and Liverpool’s away games have gone
Over 2.5 Goals.
There were 4 goals in the 1st leg last week, and both teams have been
involved in a several high-scoring games lately…
- Chelsea – 3 of last 5 Champions League games Over 2.5 Goals
- Liverpool – 3 of last 5 Champions League games Over 2.5 Goals
Both teams have played in the Premier League since the 1st leg. There
were 7 goals in Chelsea’s 4-3 home win over Bolton and 4 goals in
Liverpool’s 4-0 home win over Blackburn.
There is a history of Chelsea v Liverpool games being low-scoring. But
tonight could be different – there is all to play for and Liverpool will
be going for goals. So far, 3 of the 4 Champions League Quarter Final
games have gone Over 2.5 Goals.
Over 2.5 Goals is available at 11/10 tonight, and considering the
circumstances that looks decent value.
Best option:
- ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ @ 11/10 (2.10) with Stan James, Coral and
Totesport

CARDS AND BOOKING POINTS
Liverpool have got the First Card in a high 75% of their away Champions
League games this season, and that looks a good stat to follow this
evening…
- Chelsea have a below-average home First Card record in the Premier
League – getting the First Card in just 37.5% of games
- Liverpool have an above-average away record in the Premier League –
getting the First Card in 56.3% of games this season
When these two met at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League earlier this
season, Liverpool got the First Card.
In the Champions League last season…
Chelsea got the First Card in just 16% of their home games. And Liverpool
got the First Card in 50% of their away games – including the 2nd leg
game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Also…
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has been booked in 3 of the last 5
Champions League games he has played in. And he also got yellow cards in
both Premier League games between Liverpool and Chelsea this season.
Mascherano is the 7/1 favourite to be the First Carded Player with
Ladbrokes and Blue Square. And he can be backed at around 7/4 (2.75) in
the ‘Shown A Card?’ market on Betfair – which pays out if Mascherano is
shown a yellow or red card at any time in the game (not including Extra
Time).
Good luck with all your bets for tonight’s games. I’ll write to you again
tomorrow morning with a results update, and our recommended bets for
Wednesday night’s games…
Best wishes,
Matt Nesbitt
